What are Smart Pills?

Smart pills are drugs that increase, enhance and improve the cognitive abilities of a person. It affects parts of the brain that control focus, attention, memory, motivation, and some other high functions thus improving all of them. I am sure everyone has seen the movie Limitless, how Bradly Cooper’s skills are just magnified after taking the pill. The concept is pretty much the same with smart pills.  Even though medicine has not been able to develop a drug that is as strong as the one shown in the movie but you get the idea.

Smart pills are not very new in the market, even though the concept has reached people pretty late in time but using drugs to improve your cognitive skills and neuroenhancement is over 50 years old. Piracetam was the smart pill that was ever invented. Even though the exact mechanism of the drug was still not clear but it was known to boost brain power. But now there are more such drugs available in the market and the mechanism of these drugs is well understood. Over time science has improved on the concept and the medication. Smart pills are also known as nootropics. They are either taken alone at a specific time or they are taken along with some other kind of nootropic, this method is commonly known as stacking.
The medicine can be used by many people to their advantage especially entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs have so much on their plates, meeting deadlines, preparing a board deck, preparing presentations, raising funds, paying the employees and what not. It is a smart pill which is used to enhance the cognitive skills like focus, attention, motivation, and memory retention in a person. Modafinil is actually a eugeroic, a wakefulness agent, and not a stimulant. The drug does make you all jittery and fast like a lot of stimulants. One of the best parts about Modafinil is that it is not addictive at all, in fact, it helps in getting rid of addictions. Modafinil is a safe drug and barely has any side effects it at all.

Another type of nootropic is Armodafinil, sold under the name Nuvigil. Armodafinil is a wakefulness drug and was originally used to treat different kinds of sleep disorders like narcolepsy, and work shift disorders. The medicine was later used by patients to improve the mindfulness, ehnace focus, attention, memory retention, and some other cognitive skills. Armodafinil is mostly used to treat excessive sleepiness disorder in people. It treats the issue of excessive sleeping but does not treat the underlying condtition.
Apart from Modafinil and Armodafinil, there are other types of nootrpics also present in the market like Ginsenoside Rg1, Oxiracetam, Aniracetam, and Piracetam. The basic chemistry of how these drugs work on one’s brain is pretty much the same. All of them affect those parts of the brain that are responsible for conginitive abilites and wakefulness.

But it has been known that people who have had a history of substance abuse could be more prone to expericniencing the side effects of the drug. So, it is very important to consult a doctor before taking any kind of smart pill in case you have had a histroy of susbtance abouse or not.
